Since 1948 the Mississippi State Conference NAACP (MS NAACP) has had an annual convention to convene its members to conduct the official state conference business and to provide policy information and advocacy training on the present day issues affecting economic, political and social equality in Mississippi. We invite you to register, attend and participate in our annual convention and policy institute. The more knowledge we share the better prepared we are to work together to ensure that democracy works in Mississippi.
About the NAACP, in Mississippi
Founded in 1909 and incorporated in 1911, The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is the nation’s oldest preeminent civil rights organization. From the first chartering of a branch in Vicksburg, MS in 1918 to the formal formation of the state conference of branches statewide in 1945, the Mississippi State Conference NAACP has been on the forefront of all of the major civil rights battles in Mississippi and across the South. Despite a history of intimidation toward citizens who become members, the MS NAACP has a revolving membership in excess of 5,000 throughout the state with at least one member in 77 of the 82 counties in the state of Mississippi.
